I've been updating in the AZcrew sub forum, but I figure I'd post up an interesting finding for those of you that have been following along. I think I may have figured out a way to test the crank sensor, Macgyver style, but am going to wait to test another sensor to make sure it is accurate. More to come on that. This may be a way to test the sensor at the connector harness without having to remove it from the engine. I hope.

At any rate, I finally got the crank gear off and finally found a problem:



Note the two holes where the pins are supposed to be, and then the circles where they ended up. It appears my original crank bolt was loose allowing enough space for the pins to get taken out of their original holes, and embedded into the crank sensor blade itself. One was embedded in the blade, the other had broken off inside the crank gear, but I managed to get it out of there. But you can see where it had been mashed into the blade also. So I'm glad to have actually found a problem for once that could be the answer to my engine woes. I'm wondering if the ECU shuts down spark after the crank/cam sensor ranges get too far apart? Not sure if this computer is that sophisticated, but this would certainly explain a few things.
