What I did with mine was get the pump started on the return pipe, then pushed through all my water pump bolts and got them started about 3 threads deep. Then check to make sure the pump is lining up well with the return pipe and tighten all the bolts evenly letting the pump pull itself togethor to the block and to the return pipe.
