Cory, I haven't forgotten about the email you sent. School has gotten in the way of all other thought. I'll send a reply eventually...
Margie, the cable thing scares me as there's no cut off if something happens to the driver. I'm looking into c/c units.
Now that the quarter is over, I got a much anticipated item checked off of my to do list for the 60. The H55F is in! The 150 miles that I drove between Valley Hybrids, in Stockton, and the house were a bundle of joy with a V8 and 5 speed combo. Georg, and crew, did a GREAT job on my trans/tcase. Now to put some miles on the thing!
My next decision will be to decide if I want the 4.10 differentials out of an FJ62 he has for me. With 33s, the 3.70 gears work fine, but I think I'll want the 4.10s for 35s. I'll surely want a pair of air lockers for the rig, regardless of the gears I choose. I need to make my decision soon so I can rebuild my front axle over the school break.
I have a rear tow bumper with tire/gas can carriers on order and expect it to be done after Christmas.
Today, I hooked up a new solenoid pack to the 8274 winch I've had on the shelf. While the PO thought that the motor was bad, it turned out that he probably didn't hook it up to power correctly. It works! I need to do some work on the bottom end of the winch, but the $$$ motor I thought I'd need to replace works well. I can't wait to get it mounted up after we get back from San Diego for the weekend.
I've had an intermittent fuel pump cut-out issue, but overall the rig is running reliably, finally! The power is good, and the addition of the 5 speed should bring some economy. We're becoming happier with this truck every time a bug gets worked out. I'll try to post some pics over the next couple of days.
