Thanks, Cory! If you can, please PM me a ball park on the expected cost of said "Big-a$$ed Trekker Conversion!" I can't do body work to save my life.
I cut the damaged rear bumper crossmember out on Thursday and need to try and get the rivets drilled out to remove the end pieces.
Today, I picked up an H55F (5 speed) to put in place of the H42 (4 speed) that the U.S. version Cruisers got. I'm going to reseal it, put bolt up the spare t-case that I got with it, and try to get it installed before my drive to see the family in Oklahoma at Christmas. Next Saturday, I'm going to pick up a knuckle rebuild kit, wheel bearings and the t-case rebuild kit/transmission seals. I've got quite a bit of work to do, but I want to get all the stuff collected before I start taking the truck down. I have new front brakes sitting on the shelf for when I get the rest of the parts.
Once these last few maintance items are taken care of, I will have been through everything with the fine-toothed comb and should be able to trust it on a real trip. I still have to try to figure out cruise control for the V8. That's the next research item on the list.
