No pictures, but I made a little progress on some bland but important, things.
My fuel mileage has been bad with the V8, but I've finally put a couple thousand miles on it. It's running well now that I had the two catalytic converters replaced. One was completely blown out, and the other had about 40% of the "straws" melted shut. No wonder the thing was acting funny.
I also have been trying to figure out why I have popping through the exhaust on deceleration. When working with Howell on a replacement computer, I realized that my manual transmission Express van profile does not have a provision for the AIR injection pump that was plumbed into my rig. I made some block off plates for the manifolds and installed them with GM gaskets. A trip around the block had the rig running a little better, yet, and with no popping. I'll give it a test on the hills to see if it really is better tomorrow.
When removing the AIR flanges from the manifolds, I noticed a fuel smell. I wonder if the O2 sensors weren't getting a jacked up reading with fresh air from the pipe being allowed into the system at the manifold. Maybe it's been running rich on account of this. Hopefully, I haven't put enough rich running time on the new cats to jack them up, too.
I went on to replace the driver's side window regulator, replace a jacked up t-case dfill plug, replace a jacked up tail light lens, change the oil, add a grab handle over the driver's door...little stuff that just needed to be done. I ordered a set of OEM non-retractable shoulder harnesses for the back seat. My kid deserves them.
Like I said, work has been a bit boring, but things are being done nontheless. Thanks for reading, and I hope to have an interesting update soon.
