My 5.7L Vortec was delivered today. It came out of a '99 Suburban with 103k. A little grime here and there, but a good douse of Simple Green and a pressure washer should clean it right up. I plan to change the rear main seal, front crank seal and water pump. Then she'll get adapted to the Toy trans and motor mounts welded in. I'll get a Howell harness, an aluminum radiator and custom shroud, and this thing should be on the road.
I removed the 30 lbs of factory engine harness today, and cleaning should start early next week. I want to pull the remaining parts of the 2 and transport the FJ to the shop by Wednesday. We'll see how that goes, but in the meantime, I'm waiting for AA to send the Mark's SBC to Toy adapter kit and my Centerforce clutch and pressure plate. Things are coming together, and my goal is a running/driving truck by the end of the month.
