having problems with this U-joint
      11/08/09 12:13 AM

I have my r. driveshaft out while measuring pinion angle.
I got a new 450 joint at NAPA for this slipyoke end. This is to get me by for awhile to make a couple 100 mile round trips to the yards for CVC M.S. front driveshaft search. I wasn't planning on this joint lasting that long, just untill I get the pinion angle modified.
Well this joint ain't gonna last the trip to the yards...

At the slipyoke joint one of the caps is moving inside the mounting hole. I removed the u joint and I can push a u- joint cap thru one of the mounting holes in the driveshaft proper with my thumb. I can't do this in the other 3 holes.
Not sure how this hole got this loose. Maybe the P-450 that was in there had a cap made too small leading to a domino effect of beating the hole bigger. There is now visable damage , it's just too loose. I don't think the snap ring will hold this together very long , maybe not even 1 trip to the yards.
