Guys - there should be no need for further priming of the oil pump. If oil gushed from the loosened filter, then the pump is primed and should be doing its job. From there, it should only be necessary to tighten the filter and continue cranking until pressure is verified on a mechanical gauge. All you need to see is a few psi and it's time to start the engine. Assembly lube takes care of the bearings until full oiling is throughout the engine.
I got another email from Bob this morning, but he still doesn't give me much to go on. I've suggested that he re-visit this thread since I'll be out of town the rest of the day.
