I don't understand the problem. I've installed several 6g72's. Every time I ground the coil wire and crank it, and at .5-1min thereafter, I see substantial oil pressure on the gauge, rising.
I can see the pressurized sump idea, to get the oil up the pickup to the pump the first time, especially if the oil pump is installed dry, and not prefilled, or the prefill was long enough ago that the oil drained from the pump walls, and there's not enough seal on the side clearances to allow the air to be purged faster than it leaks back.
If the oil is up to the filter, it's past the pump, and with the filter then sealed up, the gauge should show pressure in less than 20sec cranking.
