Bob has installed the engine and is having difficulty getting the oil pump to prime. He was able to get oil to gush from the loosened filter with the application of a little air pressure into the valve cover, but he says it won't prime and they're thinking about pulling the oil pump and replacing it.
This engine has sat up for 3 years since the rebuild, so I'm thinking it's more likely that the assembly lube has dried up a bit and not passing oil, but I don't know because I've never let one sit that long before startup.
In any event, I would think the new OE pump would be fine and not need replacing.
Anyone have any experience with oil pressure issues after a long layup? If so, what did you do to remedy it?
