I've already noticed it (I'm a sport, ya know  ) - but I thought it might have to do with the vacuum advance not working. I'll see what it does when I find a working distributor.
What I really noticed is the whistle through the intake tract..... might have to do with the fact that the adapter plate opening doesn't quite match the intake, leaving a small overhang over the opening. Maybe one day I'll port match it, but I doubt it - I sorta like sounding like a jet under acceleration. 
Thanks for your help and thanks to 0778drz110 for posting the list of engines. I like the easy setup without jet valves.
