That engine has a 6 bolt wideblock, the most desired for RWD conversions. Your choice if you want the longer stroke but if you turbo it I would prefer the 2.0. You will have more than enough torque. Yes the Starion would be a manual, auto is available. The Late Starion gearbox for 88-89 will be the KM132-N. This is the highest torque speck box they gave us. It is also a 6 syncro box meaning reverse if full syncro. Any of the gearboxes from an intercooled car will hold up, they are the roller bearing boxes rather than the ball bearing units in the NA vehicles.
Your choice with the DOHC head for management, a modded Eclipse turbo harness or the Megasqirt.
