It did not take me this long to find it, I have not had time to look at it until last weekend. Yes, most of you did tell me to check gear ratios those were the one's I thanked, the one's who need to shove it were the one's who told me I had it in 4wd on hard packed soil! I mean really, who on here doesn't know that? The reason I checked the gear ratio last is b/c I figured that a mechanic messing that up is like messing up tying your shoes at age 30, kinda doesn't happen much. What happened was the parts house gave him the wrong parts and he did not check them (nor would I as it is a very respectable local parts dealer) when he replaced the stuff in the front end.
I just get chapped on message boards when folks are condescending towards people who are asking legitimate questions. I took the advice of the one's who were trying to help (ie. check gear ratios)and it got me where I needed to be, and for that I'm thankful. It is the one's like BigJim who want to tell me, that I'm driving in 4wd on hard packed soil, when I've been driving this jeep in the same conditions for darn near 20 years. I even told him that several time, but still he talked down to me like I was an idiot. Oops sorry to sound offended, but an attitude such as that is negative and has no place on a message board.
Anyhow, thank you again to those that helped, I appreciate it, and now it's time to go muddin'!

Buddy you can shove it up your A$$!! Your very FIRST post said this:
About 3 years ago the rear end tore up in it, so I tore it down and rebuilt it. In the process I decided to check the front end, and it was not in the best shape, so I decided to rebuild it also. I did not have the time to do it myself, so I took it to a local shop and had them do it. I took it back to the woods and drove it around for a month or 2 w/no problem. They put in a new shell rock road on our hunt club (harder surface than we normally drive on here in the S FL swamps) and one day while driving on this there was a very load pop followed by a bunch of banging! I had no clue what was wrong so I took it back to my local mech. and he said both the front and rear ends were fine?
THREE YEARS!! So for THREE YEARS it was OK and then all of a sudden it started going south???
I wasn't ONE BIT off the mark!! If I (or anyone ELSE) did a gear change I would KNOW it was INCORRECT gears within 3 minutes of starting the engine..THREE YEARS after the fact you found it to be a gear problem AND on a hard packed road??
So you yell at me and tell me how knowlegable you are?? When in fact you don't know your A$$ from a gopher hole??
