I would say that if you are just looking to SAS your rig for some more flex and don't want to go all out a d44 will work great. That is what I plan on going with. Though I still don't know if I am going to do it to my gen2.5 or pick up a gen1. Time will tell. The more I think about it a gen1 with d44 or d60 front and rear with a LS1,NV4500 and a atlas2 tcase would make for one hell of a trail rig.
