All vehicles (or any structure) have resonant frequencies...

Have run many a vibration table and shock testing on computer products in my prior career..

It's amazing what any structure (the degree of vibration excursions) will do when you dwell on on one of it's resonant frequencies.. even a low level 0.5g input at resonant frequency.

For the above videos to mean anything to me, I'd want to see each vehicle (on a 4 post shaker table, i.e. a system specificly designed for vehicle vibration analysis) and the frequency swept.. Each vehicle would have own frequencies where the excursions go to the extreme..

From the above frequency sweep, you could easily determine the speed to drive the vehicles through the bump test to make one or the other look bad.. The speed that causes one to look terrible would not affect another truck and vice versa..

One thing you might notice on most American trucks versus Toyotas..

On just about all American trucks the shock mounting points are well in board.. That prevents such high g inputs to the frame on offset (side to side) bumps, because there less and less movement as you move the shocks inward (on offset bumps) but allows lousy axle control..

Place them well out board the way Toyota does, and it results in much better axle control.. but when hit with high g offset inputs at the vehicle's torsonal resonant frequency, it would do what the Toyota does in the video.. Makes for sensational comparisons (but not real world).
