Thrust...... Thrust..... Thrust....... everything else is just directional steering and vector/attack angle related to air density..... otherwise, thrust angles must be manipulated - as in Harriers and space shuttles.
As always....... an oversimplification..... I'm sure we can complicate it if we try, though.
