You could use the perfect match method to create the same diameter from the head port through the exhaust manifold by enlarging the head ports - they're already smaller than the exhaust port opening. That would flow more volume - particularly at high rpms.
I wouldn't say that the port match method has been superceded by this - there's no reason both can't be used. I can't prove any of it works, but the idea has been around for a long time in hot rod circles - at least since the '60s. A couple of articles are now on the net and motorcycle folks are beginning to use the idea. You'll have to decide for yourself how much is marketing and how much is fact.
Many folks are now using the Bernoulli ideas to make merge collectors that act as a venturi to increase exhaust gas velocity. NASCAR has banned the practice: NASCAR Rules
