I ordered both, received and paid for the driver side shield because the dealer parts guy ran a system-wide check and located one passenger side shield at a dealership in WA state. Thinking I could get it, I called the dealer only to find that it had been ordered for a customer's truck and they were waiting for the customer to come in for several repairs. I waited a week in hopes that their customer would fall through, but they installed it.
Yes, it's obsolete - but then there have been other MMC parts that have come off of the obsolete list and been put back into production. I won't hold my breath for that to happen on this part, though - so I returned the driver side shield in hopes that Bob can find a good used set. As expensive as they are, it makes little sense to me to buy just one - unless I had the patience to hammer another one out of steel and then have it aluminized.
I'd like to see how yours came out, though - and it would probably be helpful to us if you could post some pics of it and explain how you shaped it to fit.
