I am planning on getting some new tires for my '92 p/u. It's a 4cyl w/ an auto. I am currently running some 265/70-17 off of a 2004 4 Runner Sport, I am looking to move up to a more aggressive tire to use off road, I have some 285/70-17's (33x11)in mind. Two things I need to address are going to be clearance and gears. For the front I am just planning on going with some BJ spacers and maybe a torsion bar adjustment and I need new rear springs. Gears, I am hoping I can find a set of 4:88's in a junk yard (I know, but it's my dream, I'll make it as big as I want too). So to get to a question...
1. What brand and lenght shock will I need for the front?
2. What springs should I get for the rear to give me a level ride?
3. What shocks for the rear?
4. Anyone know of any 4:88 gears laying around?

I'd look for 5.29 at least, 5.71 would be even better. 4.88 came from the factory for 31" tires with the V6 auto, you're going 33" right? So why not at least get closer to the factory gearing while you're at it.

It runs fine (for me) with the larger tires I have now and with the new tires and gears it will be closer to the factory gearing than it is now.

Thanks, I saw that, I was wondering what some people were actually running and how they liked them.

You shouldn't need to crank the t-bars if you modify the inner fender, or run a 1-2" BL.
For the rear springs build your own pack using a set of 56" Chevy leaf springs and some new center spring bolts, or run a 3" shackle in the rear. Rebuilding the springs should run you under $30, cheaper than most 3" shackles sell for.
