LOOKING FOR 4D56T in Ontario, Canada!!!
      #988132 - 04/01/07 07:41 PM

I have an 86 Montero daily driver, and an 87 Raider for parts. I love these vehicles, and truly am having a difficult time finding a diesel mitsubishi engine. So far, I've found one in Texas, but don't really want to drive that far for pickup, and would really prefer to see it first - any ideas? Has anyone converted these from gas to diesel? Can I stay with the original gas tank... I'll sift through the archive before I go any further, but I will say I really want to get going this summer with WVO and SVO dual tank system, using a mitsu diesel, and would love some input.

Sell the one you have and get a JDM Pajero, the right hand drive thing is no big deal.

of course ive considered this - but is it really that tough a job to install a jdm diesel 4d56 engine in place of the 4g54?

I don't think that the problem is the install (except for fuel and wiring) the problem is finding the engine. For about 8-9K you could have a close to mint fully loaded 91-92 Pajero with low KM. I don't know how much your 86 is worth but the price for it and the engine and the trouble of the install would probably come at least close to that #.

If that still isn't an option for you I would try and find someone that will bring in a front clip for you, there are lots of these companies around just search on the net and don't forget to do some research as well so you don't get riped off.

Hope this helps.

8-9K is too rich for my blood. Plus, I'd have a chassis that I'd need to dispose of.

How much would a whole front clip cost on average?

JDMenginescorp on eBay used to have the engines listed for $2k. Now they're increased them to 3K... (Which doesn't make sense... If something doesn't sell why would you increase the price?)

They have them with AWD Auto trannies. I don't need the transmission...

Additionally, they had no info on the engine they were selling. They couldn't tell me what year or model vehicle it was from, what the exact mileage on it was, or if it was the common rail or distributor type injection pump type of engine. They just cut n pasted the Wikipedia article on the engine up there.

I'd rather not deal with them.

I want to cut my costs as much as possible, as well as reduce the amount of leftover parts I have laying about.

Any other reputable vendors that anyone on here would recommend? I just want a 4D56 turbo intercooled engine with the distributor type injection pump. (That should be an early to mid 90's engine, right?)

What other vehicles did this engine come in? Delica van, L200 pickup truck... What else?
