slip yoke play/slop
      #886870 - 05/17/06 10:23 PM

I've noticed a tink whenver I take off for the past month or so. U-joints were all tight, rear end tight.. I couldn't figure out what it was.

Well now after towing a dead weight '01 tacoma up a 40* rocky hill (a chevy v8 couldnt do it for the record ) the tink is now a klank. I got under to notice that the slip yoke splines on the rear driveshaft have rotational play. About as much as a ujoint that has some slop, but not so bad its about to let go. Its a longbed one-piece driveshaft.

Are the splines just about to strip out? I've never heard of something like this.. I assume I need a new driveshaft in the near future?

Thanks,

Scerb
