Non-daily driver, for playing in mud, Miller, Lincoln to your hearts content. (don't weld to the cast steel carrier, only gear to gear.)

If a DD don't and save your dimes for a real locker.

They work if you have a good strong welder. Also you must clean the heak out of the case once you are done. You get lots of welding goobers in the oil you might get them in the bearings or gears.

It cost 250$ at the most shipped for a lunch box locker. If you really have done lots and lots of work on your jeep and have no money, wait a couple weeks and just buy a lunch box. It will lock it and not put metal in the case.

All of them act essentially the same.. Some make a clicking noise when on the street in turn. Others like my Powertrax are completely quiet..
I would think anyone with the desire could install one in his rear end in less than 2 hours with only about 3 standard tools. With practice maybe only 45 minutes.
Cost is near $250.

If you don't plan on heavy rock crawling, then the lunch box will work fine. Of course if you don't mind saving and waiting for a detroit, get it. I'm running a lock right in my jeep now, not the best but worth the money.

a welded rear and a lunchbox locker will be about the same strength, they still use the cast carrier, which is the weak spot. I run aussie lunchbox and it stronger than people think. If you do not run a huge tire it last a lifetime.
