I don't think Bud has his available yet, but drop him a note: www.budbuilt.com He's the only one who has attempted to step up and make a pickup truck/4Runner frame. Others make 40 frames, but not mini's or runners.

Junkyard is about as after market as you can get for a Yota frame. Good luck.

BudBuilt is working on one, do not know if they are in production yet!

Replacement Frames

We are still not in production of these yet, as of 6/18/04. We are working on a jig that will allow us to produce these in an accurate and inexpensive manner. We are shooting for a target price of $1500 to $2000 for a complete frame. We hope to have these available for sale in the August time frame.
These frames will replace your existing stock frame and make an excellent base to build your ultimate truck! They are computerized mandrel bent 2"x4" x 3/16" wall structural steel tubing. The main frame rails are formed from one piece for maximum strength. The front crossmember can house a 2" receiver hitch or an integral winch mount.
All frames are made for solid front axles ( replacing your weak IFS), and leaf springs. They will fit from 1979-1995 (non-Tacoma and T100) pickups and 4Runners.
Extra mounts for springs, shocks, fuel tanks, and bumpers are all built in. Many options are available for your specific plans. Rocksliders, bumpers, tire mounts, drivetrain and body lifts can all be built in.
Hot dip galvanizing is also available for the best corrosion protection.

I know where there's about 7 truck and Runner frames up here that need to be taken off the property--being sold. Too bad there's no overhead in going into the Lower 48 with 'em.

Ach-- China will buy 'em up for the steel anyway.

Nice to see someone is trying at least. Stack up yer C-notes.

Yeah, yeah. Gimme some o dat!

Why do you need a new frame anyway? The frame in my '84 lasted for 10 years here in the salt belt. One day I noticed that the top edge of the bed was pinched against the back of the cab. When I jacked the truck up from the middle point on the frame I could watch as the truck flexed massively. I jacked a little farther and noticed that the front mount of the right rear spring had pushed itself up into the frame and if I jacked high enough I could get it to separate from the frame! Talk about suspension droop and articulation!

I boxed in both frame rails (drivers side and passenger) with 3/16" steel for about 3-1/2 feet on each rail and built a new "horse collar" crossmember. It turns out that I didn't get the frame exactly in the correct plane. The back end of the frame was about an inch and a half low, so I had to make some body lift shims of different thicknesses to get the bed to line up level with the cab. It's solid as rock and it tracks just fine going down the road though. Anyway it's just a stopgap measure to buy me some time to get down to Texas this spring to get me a "new" rust free used frame. I plan to do a bit of work on that frame to prevent it from rusting. Among the things I'm thinking about are: filling in the dozens of holes that let water in side the frame rails and making tubular crossmembers without the flanges that the factory stamped pieces have that are so good at trapping salty crud next to the frame. Either that or I'm moving to some other climate where it doesn't snow much

speaking of spring hangers rusting out, check out my signature link, there are pics of when I had to do the same thing to my frame.
