As some of you know, my rodeo broke a couple days before uwharrie, so it didn't make it. Of course being the dedicated (insane?) zu'er I am, my friend and I rented a car and drove the 6 hours just to be there.
Here's the rest of the story on what happened to my rodeo: I was offroading and pulled into a ditch, and got a little stuck. Finally got myself out, went to leave and found out my steering wouldn't budge. Went and looked underneath, and somehow my bushings for the front diff brackets failed and the front axle fell down and was now jammed against the centerlink. Long story short, I disconnected the tie rods so the wheels could turn, then my buddy pulled me out of there with his jeep.
Lucky for me, Mr Joe Darlington had a set of his newfangled drop diff brackets at uwharrie, and I was in need of new diff brackets. What a coincidence. I ended up pulling the whole front axle out for right now, to soon have 5.38s installed. Soon as thats done, the drop brackets are going in. So here's what you've all been waiting for, the carnage!
You can see the destroyed bushings, and some of the bushing left on the mounting bolts.
Close up of destroyed bushing.
Front axle is out.
Imma 2wd now! Quick, when does Chase get back, we need to go wheeling!
Bonus: How to tell when your upper balljoint may be worn.

Hey Mike,
If you decide to go 2-wheeling before you get everything put back together, just remember one thing...
This is what it looks like under there to YOU:

But this is how the ROCKS are gonna see it:

Funny what you notice when you pull stuff out eh?
I noticed that little bullseye as well when I did my axle swap .

Heh heh, yah that oil pan is a little exposed now huh. Still not worried about it though, any rock big enough to hit that would have to smash through the skidplate first.
Sacromentophil, the drop diff is not really something you're going to notice at all, just will make my cvs last a bit longer.
On another note, I had to replace a tie rod that I broke trying to remove it. Threw on one of my spares, now the tires point towards each other a little. Makes a cool squealing noise above 25 mph. Might need alignment...

Naaaaaaaaaah... Give it a good few months or more to settle-in first!
On a more serious note: I can't say that I agree with you about all of the rocks hitting the front skid plate first. --- Climbing-up the Daniel Trail that last time, I made my first contact by dropping-down HARD onto the passenger-side T-bar adjustor bolt assembly... There are unquestionably gonna be some situations where you'll be at-risk of smacking the oil pan before anything else...
Just remember there, Bro... I've seen how you drive!
Cheers! Smiley

Uh, I dunno. Those are the bolts Joe D sent me with the bj spacers. Whats wrong with ss?
Huggie Hud, I've been giving it a lot of though lately, and I'm gonna keep the ifs around for a while. Specially now that I got these drop brackets
