Vacuum leak in 98 rodeo v6 4wd?
      #409908 - 12/17/03 12:39 AM

My truck will no longer idle. It races to 2500 rpm, then drops to nothing and stalls. the check engine light flashes while it runs (i have to keep it running). the code reader says the system is running too lean, and it has missed sevral times on the #4 cyl. I think it might be a vacuum leak, but i'm not sure. anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas? Tomorrow i'm going to try to locate any leaks.....?

I have the same problem. to correct it i used a can of fuel injection spray to clean out the throttle body, then i removed the two screw from the black plastic piece just above the butterfly. you will see a spring and a valve when you pull it out. mine was so covered in carbon it was nasty. so after i cleaned everything very well, whole can, i put it back together and no more idle problems. but my check engine light is on still. have not gotten code read yet.
hope this helps

I say check the Intake Manifold Gasket too. Check out below for more info on how to check:

thread one

Thread two

There's lots more threads just like these two, but most just re-hash the same information.
