Speedbleeders, Brake Lines, & a 2000 Rodeo
      #132637 - 03/01/03 09:19 PM

Does anyone have any experience using the speedbleeders on a 2000 Rodeo 4x4? I'm about to change my fluid and really dread anyone else touching my girl. I've read that you need to bleed the lines in a specific order? Is that true and if so, what's the order?

How about stainless brake lines? Any comments on installation or favorite brands?

Thanks

Although I can't answer all of your questions, I'll try my best on what I can.

Yes, this is very true. On almost all modern vehicles, the ideal way to bleed brakes is to start with the brake farthest from the master cylinder (ie. the pass. rear). Then work your way towards it (ie. driver rear, pass. front, driver front).

Have said this, I'm not sure what the concensus is on self-bleeding brakes with ABS. Most shops(read ALL are SUPPOSED to) use a special vacuum bleeder for ABS systems.

If the bleeder you are speaking of is approved to do ABS systems, then disregard this. But if it isn't, either find one that is, or take it to a shop.

HTH some,

I just replaced my brake lines with SS ones and installed Speed Bleeders (both or which I got from Joe @ DOR [Big Grin] on my 98 Amigo/RS. Bleeding the brakes in the order described above is exactly correct as it states in the manual. What I will add is that you can use the SpeedBleeders with an ABS system you just have to bleed the brakes with the engine running (also stated in the manual [Nerd] ).
