Protects additional 21,000 acres as Joaquin Rocks Wilderness
WASHINGTON - Congressman David G. Valadao (R-Hanford) and Sam Farr (D-Carmel) today introduced H.R. 1776, the Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Conservation Act, to direct the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to reopen the 75,000 acre Clear Creek Management Area (CCMA) in San Benito and Fresno counties for recreational use, including access for off-road vehicles. Additionally, the legislation would designate approximately 21,000 acres of BLM land adjacent to Clear Creek as the Joaquin Rocks Wilderness.

Yes but how many trails do we lose in the closed areas? The trouble is I could care less about an OHV area, I purposely stay away from them. That is where we are being taken, given some hills to climb in a little OHV area, when what I as many prefer is trail riding to unique places. There has not been a legal wilderness area that I know of since 1981 or so.

There are no trails lost. There are a couple of existing roads that are cherry-stemmed through the proposed wilderness. The new proposed wilderness is a former and a current grazing allotment.
Keep in mind, there are valid purposes for OHV areas -- especially from the point of view of a dirt bike rider.
Smaller confined areas work great for dirt bike. However, that does not meet the expectations of 4x4.
Clear Creek has been a predominate dirt bike areas for more than 80 years. Yes, there are records of motorcycle events in the area circa late 1920s.
"Legal" wilderness is wilderness as prescribed by congressional designation. The original 1964 Wilderness Act prescribed a "purity" quality of "untrammeled by man". That was modified by an Ammendment in mid-1970s or early 1980s. (Don't recall the actual year).
Even wilderness established by the original 64 act had issues. The Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho contains a fully functional airport that is still used today.
