I recently purchased a water pump from NAPA, took a week to receive it. Made in China.
I ordered parts from OEM Mitsubishi Parts Center in MO, Well it took them a few working days to mail it and stuffed the box with shredded paper, not funny. You can imagine the mess. Continuing, there was no comparison between the two. OEM had a back side with bolts that the NAPA version didn't. OEM had metal gaskets.
The tensioners were cheaper from OEM, than NAPA
Moving on.... purchased Timing Belt 250253 from NAPA [GATES] Ironically made in Japan. Should I keep it or order from OEM. I have faith in Japanese parts. Rather pay double for peace of mind.
shredded paper <LOL> thinking about it is really funny
Future orders will go to Southwest Mitsubishi Parts Online
I am almost finished reading the archives. That's where I learned the value of OEM and of course personal observation.
Happy Trails,

From my experience the OEM parts are far superior to the after market parts.

2nd that. I buy NAPA and occasionally Autozone for my 'Bird and anything that's not Mitsubishi for my Montero Sport - which is pretty much the entire drive train and suspension. I still buy brand name, though, like Spicer. The NAPA stuff has always been as good as or better than OEM for American manufactures but not for Japanese manufactures. Most people probably wouldn't notice a difference but when you put 30K+ a year on a vehicle like I do quality differences show up pretty quickly.

My experience with water pumps take it for what its worth...
Mits pump will give you about 90K before it starts to leak
I used a brand new Airtech (airtek?) on my old 95 and put well over 100K on it. changed it out when I did the t belt just for GP.
Currently running O'reily house brand new pumps on both gen 1's with over 30K on them with no issue as of yet.

Magnecor plug wires will outperform and outlast either of them.

I was not happy with the last set of magnecors I bought - flimsy connectors. NGK wires are almost as good in the wire, and the connectors are much better. I buy nothing but NGK now...

I second the flimsy connectors opinion regarding magnecore... the free lifetime replacement warranty is good though.
