so iam going to be rebuilding the one turbo block i have that i didnt sell.it still has the silent shafts. i think i will keep them with new bearings. iam thinking flat top pistons if i can find some with a higher comprission ratio. maybe 10:1 or something. if not i may have to bring my deck height down and find longer rods. to give me more. what do you guys think?

Leave it stock, its way more reliable and turbo motors dont like a lot of piston compression to start with. I think there 8:1 or a little higher if you push more compression you can have yourself a melt down somthing quick. Just my 2 Cents for what its worth.

plan on running it n/a.
something i was reading on 4wd starion
pecifications: Homologation: Not Applicable Weight: 920 kg ( lbs) Layout: Front Engine (longetudinal), 4WD Steering: Fuji Heavy Industries Rack & Pinion steering Engine Specifications: Engine: 2314cc Inline 4 cylinder (HKS134E destroked 2.6L G54B to 2.3L) Bore: 91.5mm Stroke: 88mm Compression: 12:1 Pistons: HKS custom forged pistons Head: DOHC 16 valve Fuel: Two Solex 50mm carburators Induction: Naturally Aspirated Power: 276 hp @ 7000 rpm Torque: 195 ft/lbs @ 5500 rpm Lubrication: Dry Sump Cam: HKS custom camshafts (intake = 288° / exhaust = 288°) The "HKS134E" engine was based on the G54B engine found in many of the Starions that were produced. The insides differ greatly from those of the stock engine. The engine has been destroked from 98mm to 88mm resulting in a 2314cc of displacement. HKS also made their own custom forged pistons for the engine. The head is made by HKS as well and is DOHC with 16 valves. The engine was non-turbo and carburated making 276hp @ 7000rpm and 195 ft/lbs @ 5500rpm. This resulted in a high reving rotary like power band.

It will be impossible to duplicate that motor in a g54b block. You can do almost the same thing with a 4g64 2.4 block with 4g63dohc 16v heads. You need a wide block. See projectzerog.com for all the details on what you need. The turbo stuff from a 4g63 will all work. Monster motor. Seriously considering replacing my 6g72 with one.

What an awesome Starion build. 12:1CR is going to be a real bear to tune - especially with a carby - and you'd pretty much have to run race fuel or E85. What's more, with so little torque on tap, it would probably not be much fun in a truck. It would also probably sound a little bit like this.
Mark Bullet unloading all-motor DSM at the 2008 DSM Shootout This car is a 2.0L, non-turbocharged "2GNT" DSM. Fully built, running 12.5:1CR and custom headwork by the owner. Stock, the 2GNT puts down just over 100whp and runs 16 second quarter miles. Mark (one of my heroes, frankly) was putting over 200hp to the wheels and dipping into the 12s last time I checked. His car sounds like Satan's weed whacker.
Thanks for sharing, though. Pretty cool.

High compression is less of an issue when you have a lot of cam. Big cams kill low speed cylinder pressure. At high RPM cylinder filling drops off a bit and turbulence is high. That increases detonation resistance and allow a higher a CR.
I have run several 11 to 1 CR motors on street gas wo issue. As long as you have enough cam it works and it runs at lower RPM a lot better than a cammed up motor with too low a compression ratio.

JE and Wiseco seem to be pretty popular in the DSM community. I'd suspect either of them to potentially offer a shelf piston for the Starion, so it might be worth looking into.
I've run Wiseco in the past, but the last set of pistons I ran were 10.5:1CR slugs custom made by Venolia. They ran me about $500 for a set of four. That engine has been pulling daily driver duty for the better part of four years, now. I'm even thinking about buying it back for a friend.

wiseco does have them but i cant well dont want to spend 500-600 for them. might be easyer to find longer rods and mill the head and deck down to give me more CR. but not sure if i do that have the t-chain wold fit. and i would have to take caution when removeing cam gear.
