Taking apart the donor block (sbc 350) for the Cobalt 18'er a friend and I have partered up on (original engine with only 300hrs got frozen - cracked the block top and bottom on both sides and busted a 3"x4" diamond out of the lifter valley on one side, cracked the other).
We picked up a complete 79 unbuilt block and I was taking it apart. One head I had to use a slide hammer to get the pushrods out. Looked like a Quaker State motor, jam full of black fudge. Had to use the slide hammer type lifter remover to get the lifters out.
One head came off easy. The other one would NOT turn loose. I was whanging it with a 4lb brass hammmer with a pry on one end when it jumped loose and fell right on by left big toe. The Red Wing boots may have saved me a break, but it's black and blue and even more ugly than usual and I can neither stand on it to kick my butt, nor kick my butt with it...
I hate being stupid. I hate it even worse that I'm slowing down enough not to be able to get my toe out of the way. Y'all be careful out there...

Shoot, that you're even able to still play whack-a-mole with a 4lb hammer is nuthin' to sneeze at.
My first experience with Quaker State was while helping with a rebuild- there was about 3/8" layer of paraffin to chip out of the bottom of the oil pan for the 318 we were preppin' for a '73 Challenger.

I use a 12lb for breaking concrete. The 4lb is a one hand hammer. I frame with a 28oz Kali framer. I hate to have to hit 16d's more than twice. There is nothing you can't fix with the right size hammer...

I beg to differ. If you hit it REAL hard, you will create enough heat to remelt the glass (the man who taught me the hammer rule tgot me on that one too...).

Well maybe great minds think alike? Is it possible to hit the glass that hard without destroying the hammer?
Anyway how 'bout fixing a break in your skin.

No, the hammer will vaporize too. The velocities required are around 7 miles per second, if I did the math right.
Rub real fast and the skin break will cauterize.

Good luck with that. If it does get hot enough to cauterize the skin then you'll end up with a burn instead. Oh hey can a hammer fix burnt skin?

Uh, hope your toe is better...
without "rubbing" or using a hammer to fix it...
