Replace Back seat with buckets
      #1258416 - 01/30/12 12:56 PM

I was thinking to myself this morning what more can I do to be different with the montero. It hit me why not bucket seats in the rear instead of the bench. You are really only going to fit 2 people there anyways. i was thinking of using my old front seats as a templete for the idea. Build some sliders and a center console with an arm rest and cup holders. I am wondering how it will affect the access to crack boxes on the floor. This would only be done if and when I can chop the top and the back to make it into a 4dr truck. The reason for the sliders is to get access to the area behind the seats. Let me know what you think. I think I might try to mock it up this weekend if we have nice weather to see how it would look.

Why not bouncy frames while you're at it? Or go with passenger side frames and they can flip forward, too.

I think that might be too much people heads will be in the ceiling. The rear bench sits on the rear floor that is about 8" higher above the front floorboard.

Do it. Do the buckets. That will be badbutt(good language for the young children that use this site). I just want to put the 2nd row from a Gen 2 in mine. I like the armrests on them.

well i test fit and it did not work. about 3" too wide. i will post pics soon. it would be nice to fit some in but i doubt there are seats less narrow to work. it was a cool idea.

Someone here put Gen II jumpseats on the frame for the 2 door Gen I. Don't see why that couldn't be done. Then each could be folded down seperately to carry stuff.

I did the 3rd row jumpers into my SWB. That was done to get headrests as anything, though split fold has been useful a time or two.

Someone needs to see if the split tumble-and-fold second row from a Gen II 96+ would fit in a Gen I LWB. That way I know for if I get one down the road.
