I'm switching back to the 31's that came on the Raider when I bought it with some Aluminum rims I picked up off CL for $50. The last set of rims I bought to put the 32's I had on it were wider at the wheel, but you could still get about 4 full turns on the lugs when mounting the wheels. These new rims I bought are even larger and I only getting about 1-1 1/2 full turns and thats it. I really like these rims I bought and want to keep them mounted. Just don't know how safe it is to ride with the lugs like they are. I gave it a test ride with no issues and the retightened the lugs just too be safe after. The only reason I took off the 32's was I've got 2 of them that are shot and can't find any cheap replacements locally. Can't justify $400 for 2 tires on my $400 Raider. Don't know what these rims came off of, but whatever it was it had longer wheel studs than the Gen1 Raider did.

Are you using the proper type of lug nut for the wheel? Some alloy wheels use lug nuts with a long shoulder that fits down inside the bolt hole and centers the wheel. If you are using lug nuts designed for steel wheels with tapered seats then you need the correct lug nuts for your wheels.

Those look pretty good Wally. Looks like you need the aluminum style lug nut with washers. Don't try and drive with only one-and-a-half turns on the nuts. The could turn out bad.

I think they will only take a tapered lug like the stock ones for the steel wheels. Those other lugs have to have enough room in the holes around the studs to go inside the hole around the lug. These don't have that much room if I remember right. I will pull a lug out and take a close up pic so you can see. These wheels are just extremely thick where the lugs are. Good wheels just ment to be used with longer studs.
I had some tuner lugs on the other wheels. Had to use them on those wheels because the acorn stock lugs were just too short to get a lug wrench on them the way they were designed.

Your other option is to replace the studs...all 24 of them...

Made a liar out of me. There is some room around the studs on these wheels. I need to find some of those other lugs to try out and see if they will work.

Those look like same wheels I have have only with larger spokes. I'm using the longer bolts, and you need to run washers with those to spread the weight around. Plus it keeps the lugs from digging into the wheels.

Where did you get the lug nuts that work on these wheels Frank? I've been looking around and can't find them at the parts stores.

Why not use the Gen II lug nuts, they have the washers built into them. NAPA has them as do most others.
