ARB locker front and rear somehow? gen1 4cyl
      #1244292 - 05/06/11 09:36 PM

If the v6 has an 8" Mitsu front dif, and the i4 has an 8" Mitsu rear dif, would the ARB fit in my rear? ha

I wonder if I can swap front running gear with a v6 loaded with an ARB and then somehow also get the ARB into the 8" rear.

Anybody try this or know why it won't work? Besides the cost of the ARB, I don't know why I haven't heard of anyone trying this.

(btw, I disconnected the sway bar and it's super fun! what a simple and profound upgrade! I just flipped it up and tied it to the bumper. I have the hardware handy in case I want to go on the highway or something.)

ARB has a locker for the 4cyl rear diff. V6 front and 4 cyl rear are both 8" ring gears but the bearing to bearing distance is differant.

Really?! I didn't see one in their pdf. I'll check again. Or is it just the same part# as for the v6 front?

The rear diff on the 4 cyl is wider than the front V6 diff.

so with the right shims/spacers it will work? That's cool. I'll start looking for a v6 front set up and saving up for some ARB lockers. Thanks Kevin C, you rock!

No, it wont fit. Wider is like 1/2" wider.

just hunt down a leaf sprung Montero sport axle that had the offroad package. Comes with a factory locker. Just remember, the stock lockers are low pressure and the ARB pump would blow out the diaphragm.

I'm confused, which of these lockers will fit;
1. the v6 gen1 front dif
2. the i4 gen1 rear dif

RD110 for the front v6 dif.
RD05 for the smaller I4 rear dif.

Ok, looks about right. The model-years in their pdf don't sync up with my '87. I guess their fact-checkers are more interested in Danas. I'll confirm all the measurements and fitments before I go buy one though. There's a dealer not too far away from me. Thanks for clearing that up!
