hi, i my needle in my 87 raider just cracked off and is laying inside the speedometer case. I was wondering if there was a way of accessing the inside of the speedometer. Also im having troubles getting the dash off. any help would be good.

iirc, the speedo cluster has a section towards the windsheild that just pulls off. there is one screw\bolt that holds it down in there. easier to see if you look at it from outside. then there are 2 screws on either side of the steering column, but on the dash, that need to come off. disconnect the speedo cable and unplug your switches and such and it comes right out. I'm pretty sure that the plastic lense is clipped on, but you will be able to see that better once you unscrew it from the vinyl cluster housing.

IIRC, you should be able to open the speedo cluster in order to fix/super glue the needle back on. To remove the cluster, you 1st need to remove the rear cover. It's only held in place with friction clips so simply pry it up by hand from one side. Once it's off, unscrew the rear screw in the middle of the cluster and the two front screws. The entire instrument cluster is now removeable after you release the electrical wiring connector.

HTH.

You have to be careful to keep the same balance on the needle, and the weight of the glue drop is enough to throw it off. I was never successful gluing a needle.
