SR vs. LS brakes
      #1238218 - 02/15/11 11:47 AM

I am looking at doing the rear brakes on my montero and I know it has a rear axle swaped from a Gen2 SR. I was checking a little online on pricing and just wanted to make sureI get the right part. most places have the same pads and rotors for the LS and SR is this true? Thanks

The only thing different is parts of the front brake stuff, the rotor and the caliper mounting bracket. Thats it.

On the front the disk is wider on the SR This calls for a different caliper.

I run either Hawk HPS or Axxis Ultimate in our cars and trucks. I like grippy pads.

I definitely like my grippy pads up front but for the rear I like a little bit of a soft bit. It seems when having a lot of cargo stuff having the softer rear seems to cause a little less pitching forward feel. it could just be me.

That pitching forward feel is the brakes actually working. If you have to much rear brake it will try and step out under emergency braking. If the fronts lock well before the rear, you need more rear.
You can trim how much rear brake you have by adjusting the load modulating valve at the rear axle.
Besides the ABS is there to limit any excess at either end.
