Off-Roader's 96SR Update: Gas Can holders added to roof rack
      #1218143 - 07/24/10 01:05 AM

Bought a pair of Baja Rack 5 gallon Gas Can holders recently when an online reseller was having a inventory reduction sale. Each holder accommodates 2x 5 gallon gas cans (either Blitz or Nato cans) but was designed for the Baja brand rack.

Luckily to fit my rack, required a very simple mod. Drill 1 new hole and buy 1/4" longer 5/16" dia. bolts. Instead of the original zinc coated bolts, I opted for galvanized bolts & washers although I did use use their zinc plated nylocks.

After drilling a new 3/8" hole to relocate the mounting plates so they could grip my rack, I simply primed and painted them black to match the original paint, then mounted it all up.

Here are some pics I took. Sorry, it was late when I finished. I'll take better pics of the mount in the next day or so for those looking for a similar way to hold their gas cans. While your roof rack may not be identical to mine, you can likely mount the holders the same way.

If someone could come up with a filler for that corner where you late model guys take of the bumper that would be sweet. Love the new bumper and how much beefier it looks getting rid of the stock bumper. Great looking ride!

Lucky you! After purchasing my BajaRack, I was hoping to invest in at least one of the gas can mounts. Sergio and his team at BajaRack are making some very nice, extremely durable equipment. I am very happy with my MegaMule rack. Glad to hear some other Monty owners are catching on to the good thing...
It looks great!

Well the rack isn't a Baka rack product but I do like their jerry can holders.

I was really lucky and got these for ~$75 ea.

Home, Fry's, Costco, San Jose, Safeway, Railroad station, work for an hour or two, Carlo's place, the compound, the car wash, off road (driveway), home and that was the other day. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Raymond's like dirt, all over the place.
