I've just been rear ended (now with pictures)
      #1211633 - 05/21/10 12:49 PM

On my way to work, I was stopped waiting for a green light when I looked trough the rear mirror a car coming with no intention to slow down.... but then it stopped.... on my rear bumper!

And I just got her out of the repair shop!

I could just drive away, but the other car was done. The whole front end was destroyed. The radiator was pushed back like 35cm, and seems like the exhaust manifold was broken, but could not see it very well as it was covered by the radiator Seems like the whole engine was pushed back a little.

My bumper was bent, the rear door seems to be bent too, the exhaust tube was pushed back like 10cm and the fuel tank was scratched and had a dent, but overall looks ok.

Too bad I did not have a camera with me.

Nobody was hurt.

Here are some pictures from the damage:

Everytime I read a thread about these trucks being in an accident, I'm impressed by how tough they are.

Glad no one was hurt. Hope you get it fixed up soon.

Just glad that it was not one of those Smash and rob deals. Sister in Law was telling my wife they are bad around the airport now, especially rental cars.

My Brother In Law pays no attention to the lights in Managua (they are all "green" )after 9:30PM to him because of fear of a smash and grab.

Hey We are going to be in country from Aug 1 to the 19th.. Maybe we can get together for a few Tona's .. PM me..

I will get to see how my B-I-L Galloper is holding up after 1 1/2 years under his care.

My wife, who grew up in Barrio Santa Anna, Never got to see the north so we are planning a few trips north. One to Esteli and one to Chinondega. Just the 2 of us this time, no Kids..

Sure looks like a Gen I Montero underneath. Is this a late model offering of an earlier body style, just spruced up?

It is a Hyundai Galloper...its a combination of a GENI and GEN II. pretty cool actually.

It was a plain accident, no intentions to rob my truck. I don't think anyone will try to rob it anyways, as these are seen as "lowly" vehicles. Most people praise Toyotas here.

bill, it may be possible for us to mett, altough it's be a bit difficult those days. I'm getting married on August 7th, so those will be some crazy days

Esteli has a great climate, there are some great views too if you know where go. Chinandega is like hell, very very hot. Just don't go to Chinandega during a thunderstorm, as lightning tend to hit people pretty often there.

@rxinhed & torquemonster: The Galloper II is a Gen I Montero with different looks, but also has some nice additions like rear A/C, fron seat arm rests and power mirrors. Suspension, engine and drivetrain are all Gen I Montero.
