Montero paint codes
      #1203236 - 03/11/10 03:43 PM

I am looking for touch up paint for my wifes Montero.

It is a metallic dark green on a 98 Montero with F76 listed for the body and A69 listed for the trim.

When I look up the numbers I either get a web page calling it "AlaMoana green" (Europe) or called "Navajo green Pearl" on this web page

My problem is that my paint looks metallic. I guess it could be "Pearl Navajo Green" but I've never seen Pearl paint look metallic before and there is no listing for Navajo Green Metallic.... Ther is one listed for Ala Moana Green Metallic and it is listed as "F76" too. What do you guys think it is?

Man....I spent a lot of time scratching up the other Montero and now I'm spending all this time fixing scratches on the new one.

If you have the owner's manual, the paint codes in there should list out names. In any case, I would try buffing out the scratches first, then hit it with a new clear coat layer

That thing is nice looking. I bet TOASTY loves the look of those low profile tires.

I recommend the buffer first and a nice medium compound to get most of that out.

I agree a light buffing compound like Swirl X will do it wonders but there are a few dots where pine pitch ate through the clear and a few other dots that flaked down to the primer. I'd like to dab a little spot of fresh touch up paint over the bald dots before I take Swirl X to this thing. Just a heads up....Never use Turtle wax Rubbing Compound on any clear.

Then I'd like to hit the plastic with the "Munich Silver" in a few spots too.

Thanks for the buffing advice.......So, what color do you guys think this is? Pearl Navajo, or the Metallic AlaMoana green???????

I'm ready to order both.

Thanks for the compliments on the rig....It is really nice and stout.
