I got my ARB 41qt fridge (thanks to the Zoo5 raffle!) and have been testing it extensively in my trooper, I installed a 12v outlet in the cargo bay . I tested it on a 5 day camping trip to baja and It works awesome and really gets cold. It has 5 settings, 5 being coldest. I never needed to get higher than 2 to keep my cerveza cold , at two it froze bottled water. I had it pluged in 24/7 for a total of 8 days running off my 2 yr old optima red cell. The battery went dead on the morning of the 5th day. I also ran it on solar panels in the day down in baja. I plan on installing an aux yellow top battery in the future though, I would not want to be stranded somewhere remote. Overall, i am very impressed with its performance.

You were able to run it for 8 days without recharging the battery? If so, that is impressive.
I have one of those electric coolers, and it can barely keep things cold, IF they are cold when placed in the cooler. Forget about cooling warm beverages, this thing takes days to cool anything that starts out warm.
So the ARB sounds far superior. Then again, the ARB is almost 10 times more expensive than my $60 cooler...
Now I have one of those Coleman Extreme coolers that I will try on a camping trip in a few weeks, I'm betting I will be happier with that than the powered cooler.

I hooked it up on a saturday and it ran day and night (i drove to and from work) until friday morning, then I had to charge the battery.
Although it is very power efficient, I think dual batteries is the way to go.

The fridge sounds great. I've been eyeing one of those for a while now. Sure would be nice to be able to freeze fish the day you caught it. Want to sell it?
How did the trip go?

This fridge is worth the dough and too handy to sell. plus how will I keep my beer cold?
Trip was awesome as usual. except for the dead battery and my digital camera getting sand in it, no problemas. It was a trial run and gear check for my expedition to southern mainland mexico next month.

Dave you were able to run it over night on just a redtop? I wasnt sure if the battery would tank running that thing over night. During the day the truck would be charging whille wheeling.
I got an redtop too, so I am curious.

I was able to run the ARB Fridge in the ARB Project Compass Trooper over several nights without charging -- what finally brought on a call for jumper cables was running it 24 hours without starting it with the freezer set all the way to cold. Hey, I had to keep that ice cream chilled...
When I get a freezer like this, I'll run it through a battery buddy ( http://www.batterybuddy.com/ )or something similar, even if I'm running dual batteries.

There was a lot of missed shots, I visted the strangest gas station I had ever seen, but my digi-camera fouled.
I explored down baja's east coast along the sea of cortez for about 500 miles starting in San Felipe to Gonzaga Bay then went back up the pacific side. The road was newly paved but but then they ran out of pavement, then it was giant pot holes and gravel then they ran out of gravel, then it was rocks and dirt tracks, and they never ran out of rocks and dirt.
