I see this is for 98 and up. I take it this won't work in a 96 SR front axle then? Don't recall how similar they are.

Won't fit a 1997 Montero? I thought '97 and '98 diffs were the same

To bad I drive in the snow and ice every winter. I really would like a locker in the front but a cable operated on to keep the cost down.

full size monteros with 3.5L engines from 1994 to 2000 had same front axle as far as I know..................so it should work. I have a 99 montero and a 97 montero and axles are identical. only difference is gearing ratios, 94-96 had 4.6 while 97-00 had 4.2 ratio
