Turbo Gen II in Puerto Rico
      #1171473 - 08/12/09 06:41 PM

My brother sent me the link of the video now posted in YouTube.
He said that this Monty is killing all kind of V8 and whatever steps up to the line at this improvised dirt track in Lajas, PR.

Per the video the guy did two passes, one at 5pounds of boost and the other at 8 but can do 12. Plus, according to the mods information it has a 3.0 with stock internals and 192k miles, T3/T4 Turbo, Intercooler, Electromotive ECU Tec3 and 440 cc injectors. Good for 272HP and 283pnd/ft at 5k rpms and 14.7 in the 1/4 mile at 95mph.

There are a whole bunch of other crazy videos but the Montero is my favorite.

The link Turbo Montero video

I ought to put some 28 inch tires on my rig, and go do some burnouts.

I ran into a guy at the cottage where they do an annual local summer car show. He had a 3000 non-TT that he put a down-stream single turbo on. One of those deals that you ouyt in-lin on the exhaust. He said people on 3SI razzed him a bit at the idea. Also said that it is working great and he loves it. Said he had it done in a weekend. He runs 5PSI on it, and put in a dedicated oil system for it. He ran it fine with stock injectors and they held up, but has since put in the bigger TT ones.

Putting a turbo under the truck may not be the best. But stuffing one into the bay is of interest. We have had past discussions about doing similar and IIRC, they ended with a single turbo might not be able to flow enough for the 3.0. Looks like it can, based on these guys.

For some dumb-ass reason, I didn't ask him on the specs of the turbo. I'm looking to try and track him down on 3SI at some point. I really only need one truck at this point in the game. I love both of mine, but the SWB is becoming impractacle. On the other hand, once you're spooling, can't see giving that up...
