This is for discussing ideas and designs for Mitsubishi SAS.
Gen 1 SAS: Landraider Lordtrunks http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1165424&an=0&page=0#Post1165424 Ncdieselwrench http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h33/hdchevyguy/raider/?action=view¤t=HPIM0688-1.jpg
Gen 2 SAS: Misterbishi (Bitsamissin on the Outerlimits board) http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic24604-0-asc-0.php
D50/mighty Max SAS: Best one yet http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=452534
Axles: Mitsubishis are driver's drop so you must use or modify an axle to have driver's drop. Dana 44: *Many lug patterns, both driver and passenger drop. *lowest gears are 5.89s *medium weight, narrow or fullwidth *Good for ~40" tires on a lightweight truck
Most tend to use a Jeep Wagoneer axle with the 6x5.5 lug pattern so they don't have to buy new wheels.
Dana 60: *8-lug I think *lowest gears are 7.17s *heavy and fullwidth *good for ~47" tires on lightweight truck
Toyota: *6x5.5 lug pattern passenger drop. *lowest gears are 5.71 *lightweight and narrow *good for ~40" tires on a lightweight truck Used overseas because they more common than Dana axles. Must be flipped to use Mitsubishi Transfercase.
Front Suspension:
My collection of pictures I saved for reference: This is LandRaider's rig: front mount

I'd say that a Stock Wagoneer axle is good for 33's with no worry of breakage. ChromO's help it out a BUNCH!! I'd say that a D44 with Chromoly axles would be safe up to 38's. I run mine with 36's.
The way I did my SAS was different than most do. I sorta built the lift into the truck when I did it. I also used alot of stock suspension parts off the shelf from diff. manufacturers. The spring mounts front and rear were taken off of 70's dodge truck frames. The Shock towers are F250 Mounts from the dealer that are welded directly to the frame rail. The Leafs are lift springs from a wrangler. Shocks came off the back of a New dodge truck(I think)
If anyone has any specific questions about my SAS, setting up diff's, caster angle, setting up gears...etc.. , I'd be more than happy to answer them.
