MY question somewhat spawns off of this post:
http://www.4x4wire.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=68;t=009432
Well more specifically to just this quote:
[QUOTE]Originally posted by ducktrooper: ...you can take advantage of either company's 30 Day Free Trial in which you can get a FULL refund if you don't like the tires for whatever reason. [QUOTE]
I've seen this policy at the Firestone shops, clearly posted without hesitation. When I questioned the sales manager though, he made it seem alot harder (if not impossible) to get a refund or exhange for that matter. Similar was the case at another shop.
Their repsonses could be to ward off those that want to abuse the policy, but each had some good points:
-You can't say the tire is too big/rubs, if its out of factory specs they always will tell you it may rub before you buy it.
-You can't claim road noise. Our trucks call for the Dueler H/L or equivilent. Before purchasing the A/Ts or M/Ts they will always tell you, it will generate more road noise due to the tread pattern and purpose of the tire.
-Same goes for handling on-road, they state that this tire will perform worse than the recomended H/L.
-When I questioned about off-road traction, they both quickly replied that the policy states the tires must be returned in near perfect condition. Meaning no lugs can be chewed, sidewall scratches...
SO the big question is, has anyone had any first hand experiance with this policy? Is there a loop hole?
I know what the dueler M/Ts are like, but I want to try to new Destination M/Ts before I get another set of more expensive Duelers.
Is it not worth the risk? If the Destinations turn out to be junk tires, I don't want to have to haggle and have it take months of letters, just to get my refund.
Seeking advice from the most knowledgeable people in the world! ohh, the most BAD *** too

If they have a sign posted with this stating this policy.. take a camera and take a picture of it. As to see the policy in writing. Buy the tires on a credit card... if you don't like them, then return them... when they deny it, dispute the charge on your credit card statement. Make sure you have a picture of the sign or something in writing stating the 100% satisfaction guarantee or the credit card company won't back you up. Hopefully, you will buy the tires and they will be good for you and you won't have to worry about this though...

I don't think that is the case. They have a brochure that has the offer in the stores, and it doesn't mention any of the restrictions you listed. If it isn't in writing, they won't win.
Furthermore, a company of their size and magnitude can't afford the bad word of mouth resulting from a dissatisfied customer...think about it. I asked the local store manager about it twice before going ahead with my deal, and he couldn't have been any more reassuring.
By the way, I did put mine on credit card, which might be a good fallback position, if you should ever have to come to that. Remember, Firestone is trying to rebuild their image with a tire they have invested a lot of $$$ in. Just my opinion, but I don't think you're at risk.
Then again, you could always call corporate and get the low down.

So, JasonB... How did your negotiations go in order to get the set of REVO's in a C load for $106 each + install? I am set on getting the same tires but have yet found a "good" deal. Who are you buying them from? Did you have to talk them down?
Thanks- Jared

I'm getting the new rubbers tomorrow morning. And the deal is a really good one, one of those friend of a friend things with a guy that i work with whose buddy owns a firestone store. I'm gonna keep the Yoks and sell them to some unsuspecting hick over the next month or so...or maybe get myself 4 steel wheels out of a junkyard and keep them around for fourwheelin as they have pretty strong sidewalls...quite unlike the butter i'm suspecting the 'Stones are gonna have.
