Onboard Air Mod with Engine Driven Compressor
      #1158637 - 05/20/09 09:08 PM

I did search and I did find some chatter about it but nothing really good.

I'm wondering how many people have modded a York A/C compressor or something similar to get fast onboard air. Post up also if you have converted the stock A/C unit aswell (I will never get rid of my A/C as long as I live in Florida though ).
1. I was wondering if you were able to keep the factory A/C and the onboard air?
2. How did you mount it up?

Pictures welcomed *cough* demanded *cough*

I SO wanna run air tools and stuff

Not much room for a York compressor, in addition to the other junk underhood. There's a good write up in one of the mags this month about installing two VIAIR compressors and a 2-gallon tank with a 150 psi rating. Look for the black Bronco full size.

LordTrunks had an onboard air made from his a/c compressor and we live in Phoenix, but he's just a little nutty like that.

He didn't install an oiler, though, and I think that's what led to its demise.

if youre going to use the stock compressor you will ne an oiler in the inlet and an oil seperator on the discharge line.

i havent done it yet (no room on the SR) but when i get my hands on a V6 SWB i plan on doing a york first chance i get.

my plans call for a york, oil seperator, pressure switches, 6-8 gallon tank, and 30' of air hose.

I got rid of the dumb headlight washers so I have a huge hole in the engine bay the size of a large battery...
I was think of doing a sealed bumper that doubles as air tanks. Maybe a 3" bodylift with a big rectangular tank in between the body and frame too.
