Power Folding Mirrors from a Pajero Gen II
      #1121778 - 10/15/08 02:35 PM

Does anyone know if the Monteros are 'pre-wired' for the power folding mirrors that were available on the pajeros? Are they controlled by a seperate ECU if so where would it be? Would it be possible to order the mirrors or motors and install this factory option into a montero? anyone have a chassis number for a gen II pajero that had that option?

I have a chassis number for a Paj with those. Matter of fact, I have the Paj! Most of the JDMs came with em. My new one has em too! As far as Monties being prewired, I have no idea. And I don't know of an ecu for them, but that doesn't really tell you anything. PM me for two chassis numbers, one from my current rig and one for my new rig, and you'll have two and four doors covered.

Thanks Phil!

Are there any other Pajero owners out there that might know if the US Spec Monteros were at least pre-wired for power folding mirror option?

Anyone have a pajero FSM on the electrical system?

To the best of my knowledge they are not prewired for the folding mirrors.

They might be cause when I look at the door-jam, (if I remember correctly, been about 4 yrs since I looked at it) it says 99% of the vehicle was made (or parts came from) Japan. Probably parts, but might be some useful info

Hey Scottie,

I would think that determining pre-wired should be as easy as pulling a door panel. There will be a connector in there with no apparent home if such is the case.

I know that, in the days when Isuzu made a Trooper that was then badged as an Acura SLX, the American-sold Isuzu version did not have folding mirrors. Nor were there provisions for them in the door wiring harness I was told at the time. I've never had the opportunity to see for myself.

The Acura SLX did.

Apparently, almost all Japanese vehicles, made for their domestic market, have a folding mirror feature to aid in tight parking situations.

That would lend to the theory that there are indeed pre-wired harnesses in the doors, just unused.

Pull a panel and see what you can see. And, don't forget, that if you find the wiring in the doors that you're looking for, you'll have to find the other end behind the dash somewhere. Every good folding mirror needs a switch inside.

yeah, I agree. I am trying to have my brother look at his to see, I am still in Iraq and don't have my montero to look at. I think I can order the factory switch panel for it, the mirrors with motors, and I think it might need an ecu to control them as well.

Any pajero owners out there that know if it does in fact use an ECU?

Any montero owners out there that had their doors or mirrors apart recently know if there were any un-used plugs sitting in there?

Thanks everyone for the help so far.

Scottie, I just did some digging in CAPS Jpn for you, and here's what I've found:

Based on my chassis number for the 93 (NA 94) LWB 2800 diesel...

it does list a "mirror controller", in two places:
-drivers side (your passengers side) on the inside of the truck, forward of the door, right beside some relays for headlamp washers, etc. (this position is indicated as V6, or maybe "not V6", all I can see is "V6", but there is a JPN character before it, could mean "not" but I think its pointing out this position as specific for V6 - confused yet?)
-also shows center console, under double DIN stack, near 4wd indicator relay, rear defog timer relay, etc. Though this could be for diesel. OR it could be one for power mirror, and separate controller for power fold?

Very confusing, and I'm not sure if I helped or not. My shortie lists the same numbers/locations too. Both have the power folding mirrors.

HTH
Phil

Thank you, so there is an ECU somewhere that I will need if I ever get this to work.

My only quest right now is to find out if US Spec Monteros were at least pre-wired for this option, if not, this qwest may not be worth it.
