I'm not sure what the spec is but mine has been between 95 and 98 for about the last ten years. It runs pretty good and hasn't slowed down any so I think that about right.

My Mitchell e-manual says 188 psi @ 9.2:1 compression ratio for the DOHC and 164 psi @ 8.6:1 compression ratio for the SOHC, but I have never checked mine.

Sounds like yours is a bit low....sounds like she needs a turbo to get her back up too snuff...may have some major blow by though...

Next time boredom sets in, I'll check and see what it is, but if anyone knows theirs, post it so we can see what Kia real world is.

my dohc is at 90 its a little hard to start. you have to engage starter couple times about 10seconds each.it runs pretty good but when you turn on the air in gear settig still it dies and is hard to start back. any adea. thanks

Like Everet said in a perfect world the DOHC should be 188 psi (wet) with a 10% variation between cylinders

Based on that number I would say 90 is very low, but like Dennis said his is around there and running fine.

I just checked my manual and it says 188 psi at 9.2:1.

I'm going to check mine when I get some time to see how much compression I've got because I've got a head gasket that is leaking coolant.
