Fuel Pump Power
      #1095257 - 05/06/08 08:29 PM

Can someone make sense of this for me? I'm sure you guys know the answer. As posted in another thread I'm installing a fuel cell. Now I'm trying to power the fuel pump (Ford E2000) with the stock fuel pump power wire.

When I removed the stock tank, I cut the fuel sending wire and unplugged the fuel pump. Now, I have no power with key on at the blue/white (or yellow, can't remember right now).

Did I trip something with the circuit opening relay? Hoping you guys can help.

Also, can I just wire the fuel pump seperately? I'd like it to shut off when the stock one did, but maybe I'll just wire it in individually, would there be any harm in that?

Assuming this is EFI, is the AFM still attached? It has a pair of fuel pump contacts -- actually, a small switch -- that need to connect for the fuel pump to work.

As noted, the AFM or ignition switch start position or the fuel pump test jumper:

I read Roger's site after the question was posted, as usual the answer was inside. I did a jumper for FP to B+, can I just leave it in there? Will that hurt anything?

Where are the two wires on the AFM? Would it be better to connect the AFM wires?

Thanks guys!

Using the test jumper will work, I ran my '85 jumpered for a few years. Only downside is you lose the automatic shutoff if the engine dies. You can also just use the default setup where the ignition switch or the AFM turns on the CO relay to send power to the fuel pump.

AFM wiring:

But no real difference between jumpering those wires or the test jumper.
