Question for 2dr V-6 5speed Monty/raider guys?
      #1043766 - 10/05/07 02:52 PM

What kind of gas mileage do the smaller trucks get? There is a nice one for sale in town and wondering if it's any better than what I get now. I get 14-15 in mixed driving or highway for that matter. My trucks spec in my sig. Let me know thanks...

(edit: NOW its says 2 door: PH)

Not sure if your question was for 4 door or 2 door, since don't you already have a 4 door?

Anyways, I've got an '89 2 door Raider, everything stock. I get 18 - 18.5 mpg with mostly city street driving, 18.5 - 20 mpg when I mix in freeway driving. 207K on the odometer, engine never rebuilt.

I push 17 in the city, 20+ on the highway with an A/T, 30's and an uncorrected speedo. You should, in theory, be getting better than me with the stick??? Or, am I thinkin backerds?

I'd grab it if I were you, you don't see that many v6 5 speeds around.

In theory, a lockup converter a/t should give better mileage than a 5spd, because the o/d ratio is higher, and there's no slip with a lockup. The caveat is that you might need higher throttle openings for grades, but I'm betting that the lower rpms eat that up.

I get the same as your four door 15-17mpg with 33's(speedo adjusted).
If you want good gas milage get a TDI or pink geo.
If you are just trying to justify buying the SWB. Then I have gotten 21.32 miles per gallon once with a tail wind down hill. Just buy it, Every Montero deserves an owner who can apreciate it. Think of it as an orphan and it needs a good home.
