New addition to the Family..89SWB Auto
      #983689 - 03/20/07 12:48 AM

Operationg on a top secret tip from lordtrunks the Wife and I were able to pic this up from Pheonix on Sunday...The crome accessories are making a huge pile in my garage along with the bra and henious seat covers...its starting to look like a Montero again..33's are on order as I type this..

This is what she looked like shortly after pick up..note the roof rack and "light bar" were already removed at this point.

Hours of chrome and sticker removal..

Now a few beers later...the crome crap on the bottom, left behind a rubbery residue similar to double sided tape..anyone have any tips on how to get this stuff off? If anyone wants my double crome winshield wipers they're all yours for the cost of shipping

Nice looking truck you got there . I encountered that black stuff on my boss's truck when I was helping him put the 04-07 styled F-150 emblems on his 99 truck. Just takes a lot of patience, scraping, and a little bit of luck not to damage the paint. Best of luck to ya, can't wait to see it on 33's.

That will be a great lil project.. as far as the sticker and crap on there.. I've tried Goo-Gone, but didnt work on those side decals that came from the factory on mine.. GOOF-OFF is the best. Works very well And a heat gun will help tremendously!

Check with a local body shop or two. one of them may have a decal/glue remover or you can buy one to go onto an air whizzer. It's a soft rubber cup that spins and contours on the body where the goop is. the friction removes the adhesive and doesn't damage the paint.
Removal tools look about 1/2 way down for the tools. They work great.

Me and the Wife spent about 2 hrs today getting off the black stuff..got about 90% done on one side. I bought a heat gun and yes, I could not do the job without it. Thanks for the tips..The goof off works good to get the remaining sticky residue off.

Total jealousy here!! All these V6 SWBs showing up...I'd still trade my other Monteros for one. Got my eye on a 4-door LS, hope to have news on it soon.
