I think most of the data is here, and maybe all we need is a list of links to archived stuff and sites, but I have specific questions, since I'm about to spend the bucks for the parts.
I'm doing the V6 lockup converter mod. Does the v6 tcase bolt and spline to the 4cyl tcase, and is there any advantage to the v6 case. I'm also going to do a v6 front diff swap in prep for (hopefully along with) a front lsd. I may also do a regear to 4.222, and if so, do the 4.222 p/u gears fit the monty v6 front lsd, AND the 2.6 leaf spring rear diff, or do I need a v6 (and monty or p/u?) rear axle with leaf perches (and maybe soa in the rear). Rear will have a sway bar if I can find room, with an Aussie disco. Also want to figure out rear discs, even if I have to have a manual rear brake pump and an isolation valve.
How 'bout driveshaft yoke spline sizes? All the same??
For the rest of the bible, we need a section on tcases, like which ones for sure have neutral detents, do a/t and m/t tcases have the same input? Word on pto's, too. I'd also like some word on Lloyd's deal on mods to later tcases to avoid major chain failure, if any body has the detail word.
Section on diffs, lsd's, lockers, etc.
Section on m/t's, and a/t's, too.

Transfer Case Assembly for '89
2.6L M/T = MD729807 2.6L A/T = MD729808
3.0L M/T = MD733918 3.0L A/T = MD733924
The case appears to be the same for both M/Ts and for both A/Ts:
M/T = MD716569 A/T = MD721485
There are some cable brackets that are different and the speedometer cables are different.
There appear to be a few more minor differences in the Ram models - brackets, cables, nuts, pulse generator, cover gasket, speed sleeve, etc.
Output shafts are the same for all models.
Hope that helps.

I know the t-case gears are different between auto and manual, and I thought the V6 AUTO tranny had a different spline count. That's what would be required if/when we get further in the NP231 swap. Driveshaft spline is the same, but V6s used a different flange at the rear pumpkin. The front was stock V6 length after I swapped in a V6 A/T AND a V6 front diff.

Correct on the gears - I missed that one. The input gear is different between manual and auto:
M/T = MD731636 A/T = MD732599
As far as I can tell, the FSM parts list shows the same F/R ouput shafts for M/T and A/T.

Great idea. Why don't I sticky it, and when we have enough built up here, we'll turn it into an article for the tech section, that we can update as needed...

The 4 cyl auto transfer case bolts on to the V6 auto.
The transmission cases are the same between lockup and non lockup, 4 cyl and V6's (autos 87 to 91 ).
Bell housings, pumps and valve bodys are changed for lockup vs non lockup, V6 and 4 cyl.
I have found in my Raider the lockup converter is just fine with 4.66 gears and 33" tires. I dont reccomend taller gears.
The OD unit and torque converter clutch have lived with full throttle and lockup and did not seem to be bothered one bit.
I picked up and easy 2 MPG with the lockup converter that I lost with my taller tires. I got 20 MPG at 70-75 mph on 31's. That included a bit of LA stop and go.

Only Manual Transfer cases got a neutral detent stock, but the auto transfer cases have a neutral spot... only no detent. You just have to make a detent in the shifter rod, and you have neutral on an auto case.
